About The Los Angeles SLAM - The Early Days



The Los Angeles SLAM mission is to build community, family values, character, social Integrity, accountability and health education through professional basketball. The Los Angeles SLAM organization holds every player to a higher standard of moral ethics and teaches team work and responsibility. The Los Angeles SLAM organization emphasizes in achieving winning results. However, there are many life lessons along the path to winning. The Los Angeles SLAM organization teaches that there is not " Me " before " We ". Every SLAM player understands the importance of team work and that there is not always defeat in losing a basketball game. Los Angeles SLAM players are able to accept losing a basketball game with maturity and grace.
The Los Angeles SLAM organization prides itself in providing professional career opportunities for it's players whom are from our local community. We believe that by giving young men from our community a chance to reach their dreams and to succeed in life, they will in return give back to the community and serve as a positive role model for our youths. Every Los Angeles SLAM player is dedicated to reach out to fans and to the community, because without either, we cannot be successful.

Semi Pro Inc was founded in April 2008. Within months of their first game Semi Pro Inc had evolved into a professional basketball organization known as the Los Angeles SLAM. The tremendous success of Semi Pro Inc resulted in large crowds attending our games in the little community of Walnut , California. Loyal fans came out to see the Semi Pro Inc players which consisted of ex NBA player and USC standout Jeff Trepagnier, Mega Hip Hop Artist " The Game " , ABA All Star Ken Wright, New Mexico State Phenom Jonathan Gibson, University Of Reno Nevada 7 footer Chad Bell, ex California State High School Player of The Year Nominee Khalif Ford, and many other talented players that were on the Semi Pro Inc basketball team.
Semi Pro Inc won the Superstar Basketball League Championship in their very first year and followed up with an undefeated season, only to be defeated in the championship game against a team that consisted of ex NBA players Sean Rooks ( Los Angeles Lakers), Tracey Murray ( Los Angeles Lakers), Lamond Murray ( Los Angeles Clippers), Cameron Murray ( University Of Louisville ) and several other pro basketball players. Semi Pro Inc has lost only 3 regular season games in three seasons in the Superstar Basketball League. Semi Pro Inc presently holds the longest winning streak in history in the Superstar Basketball League.

On September 27,2008 Semi Pro Inc played an exhibition game against the Maywood Buzz who is a professional basketball team from the ABA American Basketball Association. Semi Pro Inc defeated the Maywood Buzz in overtime 153 to 155. The Maywood Buzz is presently ranked 4th in the nation for the American Basketball Association.
On November 1, 2008 the Los Angeles SLAM Pro Basketball Team was formed. The core members of Semi Pro Inc remained and the acquisition of several key talented players were added to the roster to form the Los Angeles SLAM.

On November 16, 2008 the Los Angeles SLAM played a professional basketball game against the Arizona Rhinos which is an ABA American Basketball Association team. The Arizona Rhinos who is coached by NBA Legend Orlando Woolridge were ranked 17th in the nation for the ABA. The Los Angeles SLAM were victorious against while defeating the Arizona Rhinos by 6 points.

On December 17, 2008 the Los Angeles SLAM played a regular season ABA American Basketball Association game against the ABA powerhouse Beijing Aoshen Olympian basketball team when the Sacramento Heatwave did not make their flight to Southern California. The Beijing Aoshen Olympian basketball team was ranked #2 in the nation for the ABA just a month ago. NBA player Sun Yee from the Los Angeles Lakers played on the Beijing Aoshen Olympian basketball team last season. The Los Angeles Slam was successful again by defeating the Beijing Aoshen Olympian basketball team 126 to 121.
